FAQs
We’ve had a query from Heather, who wants to know if she can find Reese’s pieces from places other than tiny, expensive specialty stores in Australia.

Now she’s a mother of four kids, so if she wants peanut butter in a candy shell, we’d better not argue with her (even though she’d be better off with Peanut Butter M&Ms because there’s chocolate in theirs).
Sadly Reece’s are made in the US and are imported here to the land of Oz. This means that a 43 gram bag can cost you anywhere from $2.20 to $3. This makes them too expensive for large supermarkets to bring in and sell to shoppers and is why it’s the ‘Ye Olde Lolly Shoppe’ establishments in Bed-and-Breakfast towns and touristy spots with antiques, cafes, organic veges and gluten-free bakeries that sell them, to bored window shoppers with spending money in their pockets.
Sorry, Heather. I personally would love to see M&Ms Australia make their peanut butter ones here because they are utterly delicious. To those of you who think that peanut butter and chocolate sounds about as appetising as cat poo on your crackers, don’t judge until you’ve tried it. Trouble is, like Reece’s, they’re imported because Australia doesn’t have the machinery to squidge in the peanut butter filling. Or that’s what Mars Confectionery told me a couple of years ago.
(Gazes into the distance, eyes glazing over, chest puffing out): Maybe some day, we’ll rise up and protest long and hard enough for Mars to hear our pleas and make them here……
